Deyan Angeloff taking a break in Bulgaria

Deyan Angeloff was on a vacation on the Bulgarian Black sea coastline for 3 weeks, with a great friend of his from the Canaries, Spain. They managed to visit almost every coastline city – from Balchik to Sozopol, including Varna, Albena, Kranevo, Golden Sands, Burgas, Nessebur, Sunny Beach. He had a splendid time there and before his comeback to London, he was invited by “Tonika”, duet “Chique” and Annie Varbanova to attend their concert. After the concert, Deyan and his friend were invited to the cocktail party, where Gogo from “Tonika” celebrated his 60th birthday. The concert was also called “I’m 60 too”. Spontaneously, Deyan sang in front of everybody on the cocktail party, with the great guitarist Krasi Gyulmezov’s help. Deyan sang some of his own songs and some of his colleague’s. The composer Stefan Dimitrov, Lily Vuchkova, Bogdan Tomov and others were also at the concert.

Deyan Angeloff wrote two songs for the great singer Ani Varbanova

Deyan Angeloff wrote two custom-made songs for the amazing singer Annie Varbanova, the winner of the “’77’s Golden Orpheus” award and a member of the 70’s music band “Studio W”. Annie met Deyan on his new album promotion in 2008, without ever hearing about him and was deeply awed by his talent. Keeping in touch trough Skype for a year now, when Annie heard the songs made for her, she simply stated that Deyan was not only one of the greatest Bulgarian performers, but also an incredible composer. It is known only that one of the songs is a duet between Annie and Deyan and the other is a solo performance. Annie is preparing her album for next year with a big concert. She will also record Deyan’s song “Ot lubov zemiata se varti”, which was in his last album. The songs are a combination of R’n’B, soul and funk. Deyan and Annie have the intention of working together some day very soon. Until then, Deyan is back to the Canaries, Spain, and Annie is in Switzerland.

Deyan Angeloff is leaving England and is returning to the Canaries, Spain

Deyan Angeloff decided to leave England, because of artistic differences with the rock musician Fish, and because of a job proposal from his colleague – the pianist Katya Mihaylova – for a duo on the Canaries, where Deyan and Katya have been working for a long time. This is a new challenge for our great star, who has always wanted to work with a pianist. Deyan and Katya will prepare songs from the pop music, jazz, funk, soul, R’n’B and other styles. He’s flying to the Canaries, Lanzarote on 10.09. with great excitement and can’t wait to start work with Katya. Katya is a classic pianist, played works of Shostakovich, Chopin and a lot of other classics solo for the Plovdiv and Sofia philharmonic.

Deyan Angeloff passed 3 rounds of X Factor in England,UK

Since 01.04.2009 Deyan Angeloff lives in London and is working with the musician Fish in British night clubs. Meanwhile, Deyan went to the national competition “X FACTOR”, which is basically like “Music Idol”. On the first round there were 38 000 people and Deyan waited for 12 hours until he passed effortlessly. The casting was in the great hall “O2”. About a week later only 15 000 people had a chance to try out in the second round, which was held in the newest Station Emirates. Deyan went all the way to the third round, which began the very next morning after the second, but this time the whole procession was videotaped. By that time, only 300 people had made the list. On the three rounds Deyan sang a part of Stevie Wonder’s amazing song – “Lately”. He couldn’t make the cut for the 4th round, but even that is a great success for our amazing singer.

Mass euphoria from the new hit song by Nedelchevi Brothers in Bulgaria (“Ot Ikebana Darvesata Gi Boli”)

On 1st January 2010 in Bulgaria literally started a mass euphoria from the hit song “Ot Ikebana Darvesata Gi Boli” by Deyan and Boiko Nedelchevi, which was recorded back in 2001 and included in their album “Kolko si hubava, Gospodi”(“God, you’re beautiful”) (2002). The song gains popularity 8 years after the release of the album, mainly through video sharing sites such as youtube.com and vbox7.com. The person, who found the video, uploaded in 2006, unfortunately remains anonymous.

Everything started from the word “ikebana”, which was probably interpreted in an incorrect fashion by the kids, who understand it with a different, dirtier connotation. The song is also criticized for being “the worst kitsch in Bulgarian pop music”, but I doubt that, because I’ve heard enough low-quality lyrics.

The music to the song is by the singer Deyan Nedelchev and the lyrics belong to his good friend from Panagyurishte – Ivan Stanchev, whom Deyan met in 1988. Back then Ivan gave Deyan his poetry book “Dyavolden” and Deyan liked the Ikebana-poem so much that he promised to compose the music for those lyrics.

Actually, the lyrics have a deep philosophical message and are not kitsch at all, but only if one reads and thinks with an open mind. Fortunately, there’s no such thing as bad advertising, just advertising.

In about two weeks Nedelchevi Brothers became national stars, even though Deyan was in this business for over 25 years. During that time Deyan was strolling the streets of Prague not knowing that his old song will drive everyone crazy in his country. From the very beginning of the new year you can hear the song everywhere – offices, radios, discos.

In the video Deyan is lively and quite plastic and that’s the reason why he’s often asked if he was using drugs at that time. Deyan is a happy person and shows this in the video, he’s strongly against the use and distribution of drugs.
